Yesterday was, as expected, beautiful. Just the two of us eating dinner at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Dessert and board games with friends. Home to wine, cheese, and some of my favorite treats. *happy sigh*
But today? Today is the Day After Valentine's Day.
Yesterday was the day for mushiness and love and sap and all that goo. You were expected to be lovey dovey yesterday. But nobody expects anything romantic today.
Love inspires more than the law requires.
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could surprise our husbands with some extra love on this First Annual Day After Valentine's Day?
I challenge you to do one gratuitous act of babying your husband. Untie his shoes when he gets home, warm his bath towel in the dryer while he showers, fluff his pillows, jump up to refill his water glass -- something unexpected, unnecessary, and utterly loving. Simple. Little. but Gratuitous.

But he wasn't here for Valentine's Day, and he won't be here for the Day After Valentine's Day, either, and shouldn't we aspire to more loving everyday anyway? :-)
Actually, I understand your sentiment. One thing I have always done and which my husband has always appreciated is getting up with him in the morning, no matter how early he has to leave, to kiss him goodbye with a hot cup of coffee in his hand. I might go back to bed later, and he never would have dreamed of asking me, but it was important him that I cared enough to make that effort.
Little things do matter. They matter a lot.
I always love your posts on marriage. I have given you a blogging award. stop by when you can to pick it up. http://passionateperseverance.blogspot.com/2012/02/passing-on-love.html
What a great idea!
Thanks so much, Mary!
Thank you, Jules :-D.
I love this idea! Especially because Valentine's Day is always a day for my husband to outdo me in romance...he picks a color and goes all out! This year was yellow and I ended up with a bright yellow antique oil jar filled with calendula blossoms and my repaired amber engagement ring at the bottom..not to brag too much ;). Now I'm planning a way to surprise him the day after Valentine's next year!
Color idea is pretty awesome :-D. Yay for next year! :)
