Weakness, thy name is cookie dough.
Chocolate chip cookie dough, actually.
Chocolate chip cookie dough truffle enrobed in melted chocolate and sprinkled with mini chocolate chips, really.
I wonder how they fit that on the birth certificate?
Not that I would mind if there were, but there's no raw egg in this cookie dough, either.
To think, I put off making these for a year and a half because I didn't want to buy miniature chocolate chips!
I've got a stockpile of mini chocolate chips now, though. Believe you me.
Tea party, birthday party, baby shower, because it's Friday, or to celebrate the UK's National Hug Your Boss Day, go ahead and make these.
They're really that good.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
Printable Recipe
Ingredients:
8 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature
¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
2¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
½ cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
1½ lb. semisweet (or bittersweet) chocolate, coarsely chopped
Mini chocolate chips (for garnish)
Directions:
Combine the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream on medium-high
speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in the flour,
sweetened condensed milk and vanilla until incorporated and smooth.
Stir in the chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate
until the mixture has firmed up enough to form balls.
Shape the chilled cookie dough mixture into 1-1½ inch balls. Place
on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Cover loosely, transfer the pan
to the freezer and chill for 1-2 hours.
When ready to dip the truffles, melt the chopped chocolate in a
heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Dip each chilled
truffle, one at a time, coating in chocolate and shaking gently to
remove the excess. (If at any point during dipping, the cookie dough
balls become too soft, return to the freezer to chill for 30 minutes.)
Transfer to a wax-paper lined surface. If using mini chocolate chips
for garnish, sprinkle on top quickly after dipping each truffle before
the chocolate sets. Once all the truffles have been dipped, store them
in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Recipe Note: I halved the recipe (not reflected in the recipe above) and still had over 2 dozen truffles. The original recipe would be perfect for a party, but I'd halve it otherwise.

Oh, you shameless hussy, you...luring people to sinful pleasures by flaunting your cookie dough! How could you...?!!
Cookie Dough? There's no going back now... ;)
"You're killin' me Smalls!"
I had to! :) It's not bad for a Sunday treat, right?
Sorry to have unleashed this on the world ;).
Make them, Kristy! They're rich, but they're really good!!
Haha, I didn't mean to comment twice, but I guess I did :) I will have to make them, you're right! My husband will be more at ease knowing there are no raw eggs in the batch, but that has never stopped me...
I recently promised my fiance I'd give up raw eggs--that is, cookie dough containing them--(he's wanted me to for ages because he doesn't want me dying of salmonella) so hooray no raw eggs! I might just skip the dipping chocolate and the mini chips. Making egg-free cookie dough and eating it with a spoon sounds like a good plan to me.
This one makes three :-p
I did that with these more than I should have. Oddly enough, though, it doesn't exactly taste like raw cookie dough until it's covered in chocolate. It's pretty close, but the sweetened condensed milk really comes through until it's truffle-ized.
No more cookie dough!? That's heroic virtue right there, woman!
Well, I'm the one who interrupts fudge-making to clean out the can of sweetened condensed milk with a spatula (and then lick it off the spatula), so I might not mind that so much. :)
The dear fiance also has me flossing my teeth. TWICE A DAY. I've got it bad, I tell you.
(Dental hygenist: "If you don't floss, bacteria will eat away at your jawbone and all your teeth will fall out." Me: "Whatever." Fiance: "You might want to try flossing sometime." Me: "Okay!" Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if that's love or if it's just that I'm mulish and respond to requests much better than orders/threats.)
hehehe
