I'm quite overwhelmed by the reception of Wednesday's post on speaking about infertility. It has garnered quite a bit more attention than I could have imagined, and I'm really grateful so many of you have Tweeted, Shared, and otherwise spread it to your friends. Your thoughtful comments, your genuine sympathy, encouragement, and most especially your outpouring of love and prayers is humbling and beautiful. Thank you so much!
As I suspected it would, the post has also (amongst comments that were deleted before being posted) brought in a whole new wave of "have you tried?"s. This comes with the territory of exposing your heart and your ideas for public consumption, of course, and I'm not looking for sympathy on that matter. It did, however, bring up one more point that I did not originally mention in Wednesday's post, but that I think is extremely important because it is so extremely common in this discussion.
I can't believe I omitted it on Wednesday, because this is probably the single most common (and most personally devastating) comment of them all!
It's been added and labeled #3 on the original post.
Oh my word, that one was hilarious and yet horrifying at the same time.
ReplyDelete...Thank you for posting Danielle Bean's "Sleep is for Wimps" column. You have no idea how timely that was. I was literally sobbing at adoration tonight because Joseph is in this pattern of wanting to nurse for hours on end and I can't get anything done and I can't even pray because I'm too tired to focus. My house is a complete wreck in spite of the fact that I have not cooked any meals since we've been home -- I made Dan a tuna fish sandwich on paper plates and that has been the sum of my cooking for the past two days. Yesterday I had to go somewhere with only the nails on one hand clipped because the baby would not sleep long enough for me to get anything done. The final straw was that he would not even leave me alone for 15 minutes at adoration (the five minutes in which he did sit quietly, two devout Mexican women were praying the rosary in Spanish at the top of their lungs). It was the limit of what I could handle. Pray for me!!!!!!!!!
P.S. That comment was not really for posting; I should have e-mailed it. And my house was clean on Wednesday, that's what makes it so horrible that it's already a sty!
ReplyDeleteAmen sista!
ReplyDeleteWell, New Blog Friend, I already think of you when I see cherries, and now you can be sure that when I see daisies I'll think of you, and say a prayer for you and your Farmer. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time they could just add it to the extemporaneous intentions during Mass - it doesn't echo quite like the baptismal font, but it certainly has the maximum exposure component ;)
ReplyDeleteHello Patty, new blog friend! :-D
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love to be associated with cherries, and daisies, hehe :). Thanks so much for your kind comment, and welcome :).
Dearest of squirrels,
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh an inordinately long time, both from its witty phraseology, and from an awkward fear of the very real possibility of its occurrence.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI understand that it must be extremely unpleasant to have comparative strangers approach you to discuss your personal health issues. But if you feel so uncomfortable with public participation in an aspect of your life that you describe as intimate and personal, I can't help but wonder why you divulge so many details on this blog. Surely you have, in a way, invited the public into the discussion by announcing to the world in public that you are infertile?
ReplyDeleteHi, I was just wondering...does your husband also get instucted/asked/given suggestions? I was quite shocked with some of the things you have said people have said to you... I'm sure you realise it, but I am sure they only do it for the best of reasons, not realising. Also, just a thought, but there are those out there that haven't heard of NaPro and other things like that, I was one of them until very recently. I pray for you and your husband often. God is ulitimately in control and we know we will be happiest doing his will, but of course we are given challenges and heartache along the way to strengthen us....
ReplyDeleteYou know, I don't think he does. I think he gets ribbed about "you know, you're not getting any younger" but by and large I don't think he gets much advice.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely your post provides a great and useful resource every reader must adhere. This is truly a must read and admire. Thanks a lot for sharing!
