One of my dearest friends from college sent me an e-mail yesterday.
She's coming to visit!!
She's actually facing the lines, roughin' it through security, sitting in cramped quarters, living through this new era without complimentary peanuts, flying on an airplane and coming all the way up here just to see lil' ol' me!
Do you comprehend that? She's not passing through on her way to a grander destination. She's not using me for an overnight stay so she can get back on the road. She's not coming to sightsee in the area and using my home as a base.
No, her express purpose of spending money on a plane ticket is to visit!
I'm so happy, so pleased, so loved, and so edified by the very great blessing of a very great friend. Thank you, dearest Lord, for such a sublime gift.
Do you keep up with your college (or high school) friends? Stories, please!
What a wonderful story!! Congratulations, that is always so exciting!
ReplyDeleteMy stories of keeping up with high school friends are long and drawn-out, but the gist of it is that I really love them. I've had the same core group of friends (of which your sister is a part!) since I was about 8 years old. It's crazy to say you've had the same friends for nearly a decade and a half, but that's what it's coming down to. I'm so blessed to have them in my life, and we do as much as we can together granted our schedules and locations. God truly blesses us in our friends, doesn't He?
Long-time friends... yes and yay! Great friends can't be made overnight, can then? :-D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteNeither can I!!! :-D
ReplyDeleteCassi Lynn!!! Is my visit going to coincide with yours?!?! We're going to be there July 13-20th! Please say yes!
ReplyDeleteI wish it were so! Alas, I am coming next month. Darn!
ReplyDeleteI do keep up with most of them, and I visit them as much as I can, now that we're all spread apart and many of us have children. My best girlfriend from high school lives in BC, but pre-kids (and once when my oldest was a baby) I went out to see her every year. I flew out for her PhD defense as moral support as well. And later this week, I'm flying out (with my 10 month old) to visit my maid of honour, who just had a baby!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, Sarah! You sounds like an amazing friend :).
